Initiation Ceremony

You stand in a circle with strangers who speak in symbols, not words. A facilitator hands you a small object and tells you to carry it through fire, but you’re also told you can’t do it alone.

An initiation ceremony often symbolizes a transition—psychological permission to become someone new. The object and requirement of others suggest that growth involves both personal responsibility and relational support.

You arrive late to your own ceremony, and the leaders act like they’ve been waiting for you for years. When you finally step forward, your name changes and you feel grief and relief at the same time.

Late arrival can reflect resistance to change or fear of being seen. The name change suggests identity re-labeling—your psyche is letting go of an old self while acknowledging the loss of that old role.

You’re tested by a Trickster figure who asks you to answer honestly, but every truthful answer causes the ground to shift. You learn to speak truth at a slower pace, and the ground stabilizes.

This indicates that authentic expression is destabilizing at first—especially if you’ve learned to self-protect. The Trickster test can symbolize the inner part that challenges you to negotiate honesty with pacing and safety.
